Sydney Marine Sand Pty Limited applied for a marine aggregate exploration licence in Commonwealth waters offshore of the NSW Central Coast in August 2006. Little is known about the sediments on the continental shelf in this area. SMS believes these marine sands offer sustainable long-term resource management options for the supply of construction sand to local markets. Any discovered deposit could also be used as a possible source of sand for severely eroded beaches in the area.
As part of the Company's vision to explore and perhaps identify suitable offshore sand resources, it wants to promote an open exchange of information during the application process and if granted, the ensuing exploration program. For this reason, it has made available on this Website the Mineral Exploration Licence Application for viewing and download. This will enable any member of the community interested in the project to remain fully informed.
